- Soviet Union, under Jozef Stalin, 1932-39: 23 million
- Europe, under Adolph Hitler, 1933-1945: 12 million
- Congo, under Leopold II of Belgium, 1886-1908: 8 million
- Japan, under Hideki Tojo, 1941-1944: 5 million
- Armenia, under Turkish rule, 1915: 1.8 million (Armenians, Assyrians, Greeks)
- Cambodia, under Pol Pot, 1975-79: 1.7 million
- North Korea, under Kim II June, 1948-1994: 1.6 million
- Ethiopia, under Menghistu, 1975-78: 1.5 million

that is staggering. I had no idea the numbers for China were that high.

ReplyDeleteHEARTWRENDING - the single question that stalks & haunts me most throughout life is how can human beings be so cruel to one another (especially when it is done in the name of God)??? All the obvious answers do absolutely nothing for my heart & tear-ducts!...Although there is very compelling argument from this Top-10 list that Christians & religious zealots by no means hold a corner on the market, & in fact pale in comparison to efforts to exterminate religion.
